Delta Junction to Wiseman is a long drive. We dropped in to see Santa at the North Pole. North Pole by name only geographically it is about 14 Miles South of Fairbanks.
Santa House
We picked up our 4WD at Fairbanks to start the long drive up the Dalton Highway.
This is also known as the Haul Road as large trucks have used it to haul equipment between
Fairbanks and the oil fields at Prudhoe Bay at the top of Alaska near the arctic Sea.
We crossed the Arctic Circle and noticed that the vegetation started to change dramatically.
No more spruce trees (Green Pine like evergreen).
At the Arctic Circle.
Tonight we stay at Wiseman. This is a little village, which comprises huts and houses, no shops or
or services here. Wiseman was famous for Gold and is about 3 Miles inland from the Dalton Highway
and approx 175 Miles North of Fairbanks.
Our accommodation is basically a log cabin in the bush, but quite comfortable and adequate.
